Genencor plans bio-isoprene pilot unit in Iowa

Des Moines, Iowa -- The Iowa Department of Economic Development has approved financial aid of $3 million to Genencor (a division of Danisco US Inc.) for a proposed research facility in Cedar Rapids to develop its product BioIsoprene. The news came in a press release from IDEC dated 16 December.
IDEC said the proposal would represent $27.7 million in total project costs. State incentives would support the creation of 22 new jobs. The assistance comes from the Value-Added Agricultural Component of GIVFAP. The board also approved tax incentives for the project through the Enterprise Zone program.
