Malaysia's NR production rose in November

Kuala Lumpur -- Malaysia's production of natural rubber reached 73,100 tonnes in November 2010. This was an increase of 9,916 tonnes (+15.7 percent) over the same period last year, but a decrease of 20,944 tonnes (-22.3 percent) over the previous month.
Exports in November also increased over the previous year, reaching 83,185 tonnes. This is up by by 18,216 tonnes (+28.0 percent) over the same month in 2009, and also up by 5,262 tonnes (+6.8 percent) over the previous month.
Imports of NR in November 2010 totalled 61,463 tonnes, down by 3.8 per cent on the same month last year, but up by 0.6 per cent from the previous month. Thailand continued to be the main country for NR imports (50.2 percent) followed by Indonesia (13.5 percent), Viet Nam (12.2 percent) and Philippines (8.1 percent).
In November 2010, domestic consumption of NR was recorded at 35,003 tonnes, a decrease of of 12.9 per cent compared to the figure from a year ago. The figure also fell by 2,940 tonnes (-7.7 percent) when compared to the previous month.
The level of stocks held at the end of November 2010 was 131,381 tonnes and this was lower than the previous month by 6,614 tonnes (-4.8 percent). Year-on-year comparison also showed a decrease of 1.8 per cent. Rubber Processors continued to hold the bulk of NR stocks (88.2 percent).
In November 2010, the average monthly price of NR continued its upward momentum. The average price of latex concentrate rose by 10.6 per cent to 844.43 sen, while the average price of S.M.R. 20 increased by 11.1 per cent to 1,283.55 sen when compared to a month ago. Year-on-year comparison experienced even stronger growths where the average price of latex concentrate and S.M.R 20 surged by 63.6 per cent and 57.2 per cent respectively.
