Mumbai, India -- A series of apparently-reliable reports from India suggest that Indian carbon black maker Aditya Birla is close to finalising a deal to buy Columbian Chemicals from its current owner, One Equity Partners.

Aditya Birla said it does not comment on market speculation

The reports say Birla group is also considering an offer for Evonik's carbon black business, which operates under the Degussa name.
