Solutia to double Crystex capacity in Malaysia
ERJ staff report (DS)
St Louis, Missouri - Solutia Inc. will double capacity at its Crystex insoluble sulphur operations in Kuantan, Malaysia. Solutia said the expansion will make the Kuantan site the largest insoluble sulphur manufacturing facility in the world. Solutia did not give any data on its capacity at the unit, nor the investment. It did not justify its claims to be the largest maker of insoluble sulphur in the world
Solutia currently produces insoluble sulphur at seven locations around the world, including facilities in Kuantan, Malaysia and Kashima, Japan. "This expansion will allow us to build on the proven success of the Kuantan facility and further strengthen Solutia's reliability of supply in the broader Asia-Pacific region," said Greta Senn, president and general manager of Solutia's Technical Specialities division.
Solutia said the Kuantan site site was selected following a rigorous selection process, which recognised the site's efficient operations, high-quality workforce and ability to serve the rapidly growing markets of both China and India.
