Yokohama to add capacity in Philippines

Tokyo - The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced today (31 January) that it would increase production capacity of Yokohama Tire Philippines Inc. (YTPI to 10 million passenger car tyres a year from current 7 million as the first-phase expansion.
Yokohama Rubber will start constructing a new tyre plant at the adjacent area after signing its tenancy agreement next month. The company plans to operate the area's first expanded portion in 2013 and makes the area fully operable in 2014. The amount of investment in the first-phase expansion is 20 billion yen (euro 177 million). Also planned is to increase YTPI's annual production capacity to 17 million tyres by 2017 after making an investment to increase the capacity to 13 million by 2014 as the second-phase expansion, making the total amount of investment approximately 50 billion yen (Euro 442 million)
