Birla used US Law firm to advise in Columbian purchase

New York - Birla Group is being advised by US law firm Shearman & Sterling in its successful bid to buy the US carbon black maker, Columbian Chemicals.
Columbian is the world's third-largest manufacturer of carbon black, which is used as a pigment in dyes and paints and for reinforcement in tyres. Columbian Chemicals operates 11 plants in 9 countries.
The Shearman & Sterling team was led by partner Stephen Besen (New York-Mergers & Acquisitions) and associates Nathan Sawyer (New York-Mergers & Acquisitions), Richard Fischetti (New York-Mergers & Acquisitions), Morgan Dann (New York-Mergers & Acquisitions), Benjamin Brod (New York-Mergers & Acquisitions) and Sheila Jain (New York-Mergers & Acquisitions).
