Pirelli adds Asian figures to tyre market data

Milan, italy -- Pirelli has added figures to its Tyre Market Watch website, showing full-year performance in Asian markets.
In the truck segment, Japanese replacement sales grew by 14 perecnt in the 12 months to December 2010 and by 11 percent in the month of December. Fourth quarter sales grew by 12 percent. In original equipment sales, the full year figure showed growth of 37 percent, with December growth put at 12 percent. Final quarter growth slowed from earlier in the year to 7 percent.
Also in trucks, Chinese replacement sales grew by 10 percent in the year, but growth slowed sharply in the final quarter, to the same level as 2009. On the OE side, annual growth stood at 53 percent, with December growth of 40 percent matching final quarter growth of 42 percent.
Pirelli previously released equivalent data for Europe and the Americas
In the consumer segment of passenger and light truck tyres, Pirelli said Japanese replacement sales increased by 9 percent in the full year and in the final quarter. Sales were slightly slower in December, growing by just 6 percent. On the OE side, sales grew by 20 percent in the year, but the final quarter saw a decline of 7 percent and december saw a sales decline of 6 percent compared with the previous year
In China, replacement tyres in the consumer segment saw 31 percent growth during 2010 and 26 percent growth in the last quarter. In OE sales grew just as strongly, with 31 percent growth in the full year; 23 percent in the final quarter and 21 percent in December.
