KKPC completes 120 kt BR expansion in Yeosu, Korea

Yeosu, Korea - Korea Kumho Petrochemical said it has completed a previously-announced expansion of its high-cis butadiene rubber (BR) plant in Yeosu.
The expansion, which represents an investment of 171 700 million won (euro 114 million) increases total capacity for high-cis BR at the unit to 287,000 tonnes from 167,000 tonnes a year.
KKPC said it hopes the expansion will increase its market share of the global BR / SBR market to 10.4 percent from 9.8 percent.
Local news reports quoted Park Chan-koo, chief executive of Korea Kumho Petrochemical, saying the company plans to sell a 1.5 per cent stake in Kumho Tire Co., in an effort to raise funds.
