Report: Silicone market to grow to $17 billion by 2017
ERJ staff report (R&PN)
San Jose, California -- According to a report from Global Industry Analysts Inc., the global market for silicone is forecast to reach $17.2 billion by the year 2017.
The increase, the report said, is driven by booming end-use markets of construction, automotive, health care and chemical.
Stringent environmental regulations in the chemical and allied industries served to strengthen the case for silicones in the long-term, Global Industry Analysts said.
In addition, technological advances and attributes such as stability, biocompatibility, high performance and bacterial resistance will hold silicone growth prospects in good stead in both developed and developing markets worldwide, according to the report.
