Freudenberg launches hygienic-design washer
ERJ staff report (LMH)
Weinheim, Germany -- Freudenberg Process Seals says its new aseptic Hygienic Usit from sets completely new purity standards in sealing technology for the food, beverages, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries.
This hygienic Usit ring allows screw heads to be sealed in accordance with the principles of hygienic design, thereby protecting aseptic insulators and areas that come in contact with the product against external influences and contamination, the German company said in a 16 March news release.
Freudenberg noted that conventional Usit rings “are not in a position to prevent liquid from accumulating beneath the screw head.†A Usit ring with a trapezoidal, rubbery-elastic sealing bead that has been vulcanised onto the inside creates dead spots that are conducive to the build-up of product deposits, which Freudenberg said becomes “an ideal breeding ground for bacteria.â€
Freudenberg's new Usit seals on the outside and securely closes off the area between the screw and the surface to all kinds of external influences, thereby reliably protecting the product, the company claims. The sealing bead on the Hygienic Usit is made of 70 EPDM 291, which conforms with FDA requirements and EU Regulation 1935/2004, and is biologically safe according to USP Class VI - 121°C.
