(Rubber News report)
Chennai, India – American company West Pharmaceutical Services Inc. has completed construction of its first products manufacturing facility in India.
A dedication ceremony was held 16 July for the new plant, which the firm said will expand its growing packaging for the injectable medicines business.
“With more and more pharmaceutical customers establishing operations in India, our new plant will help West meet market demand and further establishes the company’s presence in this growing and dynamic market,” said Donald E. Morel Jr., chairman and CEO.
The new facility spans about 164,700 square feet (15,300 square metres) and sits on a site that covers about 783,600 square feet.
Construction on the structure began in August 2012. West produces elastomeric seals used primarily in packaging of injectable medicines manufactured by the company’s pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical customers in India and the Asia Pacific region.
