London – International non-profit group CDP Worldwide has named Bridgestone Corp., Pirelli & C. SpA, and Yokohoma Rubber Co. Ltd on its 2020 list of companies being recognised for their efforts to minimise carbon emissions.
CDP, formerly known as the Carbon Disclosure Project, is a London-based non-profit that gathers, distributes and promotes information on environmental issues. Its 2020 list includes more than 300 companies being touted as A-list firms for their efforts.
This is Pirelli's third straight year and Yokohama's second on the CDP list, while Bridgestone returns after a year's hiatus.
In addition to Bridgestone, Pirelli and Yokohama, braking systems maker Brembo SpA and Sumitomo Chemical Co. Ltd., which makes speciality chemicals for the rubber industry, were recognised.
"The recognition of the CDP confirms once again our commitment to sustainable development through the fight against climate change," Pirelli CEO Marco Tronchetti Provera said.
Also commenting on the recognition, Cristina Bombassei, chief corporate social responsibility officer at Brembo, said being on the 'A List' was the result of "strong commitment" to the environment.
"We are taking additional actions that tackle our footprint with an ambitious goal to reach carbon neutrality by 2040," the official said.
Turkey-based tire textile reinforcements producer Kordsa Teknik Tekstil AS, meanwhile, said it increased both its climate change and water security scores with CDP to A- from B in the 2020 reporting.
"With our tire reinforcement and composite technologies, we aim to reduce fuel consumption and lighten vehicles," Kordsa CEO Ali Çal??kan said.
