Oliver Rubber introduces wide-base single tread
ERJ staff report (BC)
Greenville, South Carolina - Oliver Rubber Co., a wholly owned subsidiary of Michelin North America Inc., has launched ULP Trailer (Ultra Low Profile), reports Tire Business.
The product is “SmartWayâ€-verified by the US Environmental Agency (EPA) as a tread rubber for wide-base single tires.
Designed for long-haul trailer applications, the retread delivers enhanced fuel efficiency, Oliver Rubber said, providing fleets with "significant value and performance."
The new product features the company's VDi Plus technology, a visual depth indicator that reduces lodging of foreign materials in the tread face, the company said. VDi Plus is an Oliver Rubber exclusive feature.
"The retread, pressed in Oliver's Black Armor compound, has unique properties that contribute to incredible treadwear and very low-rolling resistance," said Philip Boarts, product category manager, retread for Michelin Americas Truck Tires. "This introduction provides an excellent retread solution for the next generation of wide-base singles."
