ERJ staff report (BC)
Paris – Agricultural tire maker Mitas is unveiling a Super Flexion Tire at SIMA, the Paris international agri-business show, citing “gentle ground handling” through a ground pressure reduction of 33% compared with an IF “one pressure for all” tire of the same size.
The SFT tire on display, of 900/60 R42 size, has a contact area (flat plate) of 4,800 cm2 and a nominal load rating of 8 tonnes. Recommended inflation pressure ranges from 0.8 to 2.8 bars depending on speed and load.
SFT tires are designed for high-horsepower tractors (>180 hp).
Andrew Mabin, Mitas’s marketing and sales director, said: “Mitas SFT draws on the performance of Continental SVT farm tires. Mitas has been successfully manufacturing Continental agricultural tires since 2004, under licence. The SFT concept will appeal to European original equipment manufacturers and farmers alike.”
The SIMA exhibition runs from 24-28 February.
