Goodyear aims to save fleets over €195 000 annually
ERJ staff report (LMH)
Birmingham, UK – Goodyear says long-haul truck fleets could save over £170 000 (€195 000) a year in fuel costs by using its Marathon tires.
The tire maker said a typical 50-truck operator could make the savings when using a “dream team” of tires, which have EU fuel efficiency label grades of between A-C.
The calculations are based on a 40 tonne 4x2 tractor unit and tri-axle trailer combination, an annual mileage of 100 000 kilometres, a fuel consumption of 32.3 litre per 100 km and a diesel price of £1.30 per litre.
“In these cost-conscious times it is very easy to just go for the cheapest option, but that can also be the most expensive,” commented Adam Stanton, commercial marketing manager, Goodyear Dunlop Tyres UK in a 6 March news release. He said that thanks to the quality of materials and technology used, the Marathon tires offer a fuel efficient solution with high milage and the potential to be retreaded, prolonging tire life.
