Mahindra's electric car uses custom-designed Apollo tires
ERJ staff report (BC)
Gurgaon, India – Mahindra launched its e2o electric car on 18 March using Amazer 3G tires of 155/70 R13 size specially designed for the vehicle by Apollo Tyres.
The tiremaker claims an intensive R&D effort, taking just six months, to achieve low rolling resistance and hence better mileage between charges with less energy being drawn from the batteries.
Satish Sharma, chief of India operations for Apollo Tyres, said: “Apollo Tyres has always believed in a collaborative approach towards R&D. … Our product laboratories benefit from some of the best minds in the global automotive and tire industries, through our tie-ups with premium research and technology institutions globally. For us, innovation means little unless it can create tangible value for the customer, ensure a safe ride and deliver on the promise of sustainability.”
