'Flying' underwater with winged neoprene wetsuit
ERJ staff report (BC)
Paris – French designer Guillaume Binard has invented a wetsuit for divers to “fly” underwater, reports Michelle Hammond of Startupsmart. The neoprene Oceanwings suit has webs between the legs and arms to generate hydrodynamic resistance.
Binard said: “This project shows the similarities between the air and water environments, and their principal difference in terms of density.”
He regards the “flight” experience as expressing the powerful emotions and feelings that the underwater world generates for people.
There are as yet no plans to put the concept wetsuit into production.
