Trelleborg, Sweden - Trelleborg Sealing Solutions (TSS) is expecting to move to its new global headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany by June 2018, according to the company.
In correspondence with ERJ, the company confirmed that that work on the new Innovation Center building in Stuttgart, which will house the business area’s global HQ, its German HQ and various support departments, was going as planned, with the move set for next summer.
The public, official opening event is scheduled for September 2018, the company added.
At the new location, research and development (R&D) area is expanded by 50% to include an extended test field and an Internet-of-Things (IoT) lab.
“The building is intended to further raise the bar in terms of sealing material and product development and will provide the ideal environment for future joint development projects with our customers,” Trelleborg told ERJ.
Commenting on the technologies to be pursued at the centre, TSS said its R&D strategy will focus on a number of technologies including additive manufacturing technologies and intelligent sealing systems, such as “through cognitive sealing systems”.
A major emphasis, added TSS, will be energy conservation through low friction at the new centre.
