Nokian strengthens links with central European car makers
Nokia, Finland – Nokian Tyres has been working to expand cooperation with car manufacturers in central European countries as it aims to increase its reach within the region.
Announcing its recent OE approval for the BMW X1, a high performance SAV (sports activity vehicle), Nokian said the achievement was part of its strategy to expand cooperation and strengthen its position in Central Europe.
“Central Europe is the world’s largest winter tire market and, therefore, one of Nokian Tyres’ most important areas of growth,” said the Nokia-based tire maker on 5 Dec.
The Nokian WR D4, which has been approved by the BMW Group, is a new-generation winter tire developed for the Central European weather conditions.
The cooperation with the BMW Group, said group sales manager Markus Honkala, was “a very important step” for Nokian in developing its OE activities and business further.
Tires for BMW will be manufactured at the company’s Nokia factory in Finland.
