Brussels – Daniele Ferrari, chief executive officer of Versalis, has been elected president of polymer industry association PlasticsEurope, succeeding Covestro CEO Patrick Thomas, who held this office since 2011.
Following his election at PlasticsEurope’s 1 June general assembly, in Madrid, Ferrari praised his predecessor’s chairmanship and his role in developing the World Plastics Council, a platform that addresses global issues faced by the polymer industry.
"Our industry needs to further develop partnerships based on a constructive and solution-oriented approach” said Ferrari “If we are serious about creating solutions for the world’s challenges, we need an open-minded industry that acts together with NGOs, the value chain and general public…”.
Ferrari has over 25 years of experience in the chemical industry, including management roles at ICI and Huntsman. He was appointed CEO of Versalis in 2012.
