Jakarta – Turkish tire cord manufacturer Kordsa Global is expanding its polyester tire cord production both in Turkey and in Indonesia, in response to growing demand.
Speaking on the occasion of Kordsa’s receipt of an Indonesia export award, CEO Kordsa Cenk Alper said on 9 Nov that the company had decided to “make an additional investment” in its second plant in Indonesia to add 6,500 tonnes of additional polyester yarn capacity.
Kordsa opened its second tire cord fabric and polyester yarn facility in Indonesia in a $100-million (€85.9 million) investment in January 2015. The facility is located in Bogor-CIteureup, on the west part of Java Island.
Also speaking to ERJ in September, Kordsa’s global accounts and marketing director Vahe Hanamirian said the company was adding a production line for its “new generation” products in Turkey.
“We will add a new polyester HMLS yarn line of 6 kilotonne to our existing capacity in Izmit,” he added.
The company expects the added capacity to cover increased demand for polyester reinforcement materials in both Asian and European markets.
