VMI breaks ground on new Polish plant
Leszno, Poland – VMI broke ground on a new manufacturing facility in Leszno on 3 Nov, according to the Dutch tire machinery maker.
Due to be operational in the second quarter of 2017, the facility will initially employ 125 people, and operate to the “latest lean principles”, said VMI.
The plant, in its initial phase will cover an areas of 13,500 sq.m built on an 8-hectare plot of land, added a company statement.
According to the company, various sites in Eastern Europe were studied for the location of the plant.
Leszno was chosen due to its proximity to universities and technical schools and its “ability to attract well-motivated and highly qualified technically skilled employees,” said VMI.
This, combined with a supportive investment climate, made Leszno the right choice, said VMI which operates in eight countries presently.
