Bangkok – A block rubber factory in Pontianak, Indonesia owned by PT Star Rubber was hit by fire on 12 Oct, parent group Sri Trang Agro-Industry Public Co Ltd has announced.
Damage of the factory was estimated at raw material storage and part of production lines, according to a 14 Oct statement from the Thai group.
Production of the Indonesian factory is around 2,000 - 4,000 tonnes/month, which accounts for less than 5% of total production of the Sri Trang group.
“Currently, the fire is under control and we are investigating the cause and damages of the fire,” said the statement.
PT Star Rubber, it added. has insured for the incident including fixed assets, inventories, and business interruption.
The company said it “believes that this incident has no impact to our customers as well as marketing activities.”
