Hamburg, Germany – Albis Plastic GmbH has added some new polyamide adhesion-modified thermoplastic vulcanisates (TPVs) to its portfolio of thermoplastic elastomers, the company announced 12 Oct.
The TPV products, labelled Alfaterxl, are based on a blend of a polypropylene matrix with a finely dispersed, fully cross-linked EPDM phase.
They are said to show “excellent” 2K adhesion to PA6 and PA66. Peeling tests of materials with shore hardness A55 typically resulted in cohesive break.
The material is also claimed to be resistant to weather, ozone, aqueous solutions, acids and alkaline media, and can be used in a temperature range of -40 °C to +130 °C. It also exhibits low emission and low fogging properties, said Albis.
Target applications include under-the-bonnet automotive parts, such as seals, covers and cable ducts, and electric/electronic devices.
