Essen, Germany – Evonik Industries has joined the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC), a global, public-private organisation formed to accelerate adoption and enablement of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).
Evonik claims to be the first ever chemicals company to join the initiative.
As a member, Evonik receives access to a partner network within which new technologies for the Industrial Internet are developed.
"We want to exploit digitalisation to develop new, innovative solutions for our customers. Our membership of the IIC will provide valuable stimuli in this direction," said Henrik Hahn, responsible for digitalisation strategy at Evonik.
"Evonik has extensive knowledge and networks in different customer industries, and also in the scientific world. This makes it very attractive for our members and the IIC," said Richard Soley, executive director of the IIC.
Evonik’s digital unit has a remit ranging from devising new products with digital service components all the way up to the development of new business models.
