Midland Michigan – The European Union has suspended an 11 Jan deadline to complete its investigation into the merger of Dow Chemical Co. and DuPont Co. due to missing data, Bloomberg has reported.
The European Commission, said Bloomberg, has asked the two companies to provide extra information about their proposed merger.
According to the report, the call was made due to concerns that the combination “may reduce competition for crop protection, seeds and some petrochemicals.”
The clock will restart and the deadline for a decision be adjusted once the parties submit the required information, said Bloomberg quoting an EU spokesman.
