Volvo approves Enviro’s recycled carbon black

Gothenburg, Sweden – Volvo Car Corp. has approved the use of recycled carbon black in chassis plugs, supplier of the material Enviro has recently announced.

Manufactured by AnVa Polytech, the rubber plugs contain 100 percent recycled carbon black, according to Gothenburg-based Enviro.

The company supplies full-scale recycling plants to industrial investors and operates its own plant for tire waste in Åsensbruk, Sweden.

Enviro’s patented pyrolysis process features a special heat distribution technology. This, it said, can produce high and consistent quality N550-equivalent recycled carbon black

According to the Swedish company, its recycled carbon black allows a “carbon dioxide reduction” of over 60 percent compared to the use of virgin material.

"The fact that Volvo Cars is now adopting environmental rubber that uses our recycled carbon black in its production is a major commercial breakthrough,” he said

Armed with its success at Volvo, the Swedish company is now seeking to introduce its recycled product to a number of major rubber manufacturers – among them Trelleborg Industrial.

“We're counting on even greater demand as more companies will follow Volvo car's lead and contribute to a sustainable rubber industry,” said Hagbyhn.
