Maisach, Germany - Freudenberg Chemical Specialities has started a €40-million expansion project at its site in Maisach, near Munich, in southern Germany.
The expansion, said a 16 June press release, will include the construction of a pan-European logistics centre for Klüber Lubrication, a new technical centre with laboratories for Chem-Trend and additional offices for Chem-Trend and OKS.
The three companies are subsidiaries of Freudenberg Chemical Specialities, which is headquartered in Munich.
The new project covers an area of around 19,000 square metres.
The construction of the new logistics centre and the Chem-Trend technical centre is scheduled to complete in the second half of 2017.
The new logistics centre, said Freudenberg, will centralise the European logistics operation of speciality lubricant manufacturer Klüber.
“By combining essential logistics functions throughout Europe and creating additional capacity, we will increase our competitiveness for years to come, shorten delivery times for customers and pave the way for further growth,” said Hanno Wentzler, CEO of Freudenberg Chemical Specialities.
Also Chem-Trend’s new technical centre with laboratories aims for “advancement of innovative specialised release agents”.
