Mumbai, India – A Lufthansa flight travelling from Munich to Mumbai landed safely on 13 May, despite four of its eight tires having burst during landing.
According to MailOnline, Flight LH764 was carrying 163 passengers and it took the airport 22 hours to clear from the runway.
Citing the Indian Authority Directorate General of Civil Aviation German Aerotelegraph suggested that the anti-skid system had failed and that the tires could have blocked the ABS system.
Indian airline Jet Airways later announced in a tweet that it had helped clear the aircraft from the runway in Mumbai.
An ERJ source, who is an aviation industry expert, said that the aircraft was fitted with Michelin AIR X tires.
ERJ is seeking to verify this with the French tire maker.
