London – Glove producer Polyco has chosen a specially developed grade of Dryflex thermoplastic elastomer developed by Elasto UK, part of Hexpol TPE, for its non-slip grip gloves.
The Grip It MAX gloves have a knitted liner with a three-quarter injection moulded TPE coating, said Hexpol in a press release.
The three-quarter TPE coating has been reinforced in critical areas to offer enhanced abrasion resistance.
The TPE coating has “a unique and specially designed tread pattern on the palm and fingertips which contributes to its exceptional gripping ability,” said Hexpol.
Elasto worked with distribution partners Distrupol UK on the development of the custom-formulated grade for Polyco.
“The material structure of the Dryflex TPE compound helps to produce the high surface friction required for the non-slip properties in this application,” said Mark Griffiths, R&D manager at Elasto UK explained.
Grip It MAX was recently recognised at the Plastics Industry Awards (PIA) in the UK, organised by ERJ sister title Plastics & Rubber Weekly.
The PIA judges were impressed with the complexity of the product and level of engineering that went into it, in terms of design and tooling.
