Shunan City, Japan – Zeon Corp. has opened a carbon nanotubes manufacturing facility at the site of its Tokuyama Plant, Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, the company announced on 11 Nov.
The unit cost Yen 400 million (€3 million) and will produce single-walled carbon nanotubes with features such as a high aspect ratio, purity and specific surface area.
Zeon said that the product could be used to produce highly functional rubber and other in other speciality materials with non-conventional characteristics.
According to Zeon, mass production is to start once test runs are completed.
Prior to the completion of the manufacturing plant, Zeon Nano Technology Co., Ltd. was established to process and sell carbon nanotubes and related products.
