Svehlova, Czech republic - Mitas is expanding its range of flotation radial tires range extension with the addition of nine new sizes in March, then company has announced.
The Agriterra-branded tires are designed to reduce fuel consumption, while the steel belt construction is said to improve stability at higher speeds and improve puncture resistance. The tread features larger tread voids, improving the self-cleaning properties of the tire.
According to Mitas, the flotation tires have an 11 percent larger tread contact area than premium competitors and 22-percent larger than competitors with a traction type of tread pattern.
Compared to other premium tires on the market, Mitas claims fuel consumption during road transportation at 30 km/h is 8 percent lower, and 9 percent lower during field operation.
“Flotation radial tires are intended for use on the heaviest agricultural implements, such as slurry tanks and grain trailers. In the first quarter of 2015 Mitas will have in the product offer 12 variations of flotation radial tires,” said Pavel Kott, Mitas’ product manager for agricultural tires.
“Flotation tires can bring [farmers] higher yields thanks to lower soil compaction caused by flotation tire during field operation.”
