Agrico transfers conveyor systems plant to New Orleans
ERJ staff report (PR)
New Orleans — Agrico Sales is investing $2m (€1.4m) to build a manufacturing facility to produce conveyor and shiploader systems for the dry bulk shipping industry in New Orleans, the company announced 29 April.
The 56,000-square-foot (5,202-sq-metre) facility will provide significantly more space for Agrico and replace its existing site in Bridge City, Louisiana. The company aims to complete the project by the yearend and expects to retain 35 existing jobs and create 25 new ones.
“Agrico’s equipment sales have taken off in recent years,” said owner and president Frank Kelly. “Low-priced natural gas, the Panama Canal expansion and first-class construction sites for port terminals in Louisiana are further fuelling demand locally.“
