Metso valves for Abu Dhabi complex
ERJ staff report (PR)
Helsinki, Finland – Finnish group Metso is to supply hundreds of valves to Abu Dhabi Oil Refinery Co.'s chemical refining complex in the United Arab Emirates.
The valves will be installed in a carbon black and delayed coker plant currently under construction in Ruwais 240km west of Abu Dhabi City.
Once completed in December 2015, the plant will process 30,000 barrels of crude oil per day and have an annual production capacity of 40,000 tonnes of carbon black.
Metso’s deliveries will include control valves equipped with intelligent controllers for performance tracking and predictive maintenance.
Project engineering company Samsung Engineering selected Metso technology for the project, partly because the supplier’s valve factory is located close to its base in South Korea.
"It is the largest project ever executed by our company, and the total valve quantities are huge," said YunKi Sung, vice president, procurement dept., Samsung Engineering.
