Dow Corning and PolyOne join forces to serve China healthcare market
ERJ staff report (TP)
Michigan − Dow Corning Corporation has appointed PolyOne Distribution as its distributor for medical grade silicone products in Greater China. The agreement is intended to expand the opportunities for manufacturers of healthcare products in the region to benefit from a wider range of Dow Corning brand specialty silicone products.
Both companies see strong potential in the Greater China region for growing their respective businesses and meeting customer and patient needs in drug delivery, medical devices and pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical processing. According to global management consultants McKinsey, Greater China is among the world’s most attractive markets for healthcare as a result of urbanisation, increasing income, social reform and the government’s focus on healthcare within the 12th Five Year Plan.
“Dow Corning has many years of experience of working in China to support locally companies and multinationals in the medical device and pharmaceutical sectors with our expertise and silicone materials,” said Vincent Chang, Dow Corning’s healthcare commercial manager for Asia. “As China has grown, we’ve seen how the needs have also grown for more effective and safer materials to improve patient care and the quality of life. Our agreement with PolyOne Distribution will enable us to demonstrate the benefits of silicone materials to an even greater number of companies, particularly those USA companies that have facilities in China.”
