Continental Regensburg bags Bavarian Quality Award
ERJ staff report (TP)
Regensburg, Germany – Continental’s Regensburg location won the 2014 Bavarian Quality Award on its first attempt.
The competition is organised by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs and in all ten categories assessed, the expert jury made up of managers, scientists, and high-ranking administrators attested to the "exceptional” performance of the Regensburg location.
Every aspect of quality management at a company is rated, from R&D right through to procurement, production, and marketing.
The award was launched in 1993 as the first accolade of its kind in Germany and is presented every year to companies that promote quality assurance.
"This award is a great honour for our location – we are delighted at the jury’s impressive verdict. It shows we are on the right track with our 'Transforming Success into Excellence' initiative, which was started at the location in 2012,” said Thomas Ebenhöch, Continental's location and plant manager in Regensburg – and with around 7,000 employees, the location is one of Conti’s largest.
Companies cannot put themselves forward for the Bavarian Quality Award. They are, instead, proposed by the chambers of industry and commerce or by trade associations. Continental Regensburg was nominated at the initiative of the Regensburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
A two-stage selection process then ensued. The first stage requires companies to complete a detailed questionnaire on quality management in various areas. Based on this, the expert jury then decides which companies to shortlist. The second stage comprises an on-site visit, during which the jury ascertains whether the actual implementation of the quality concept measures up to the company's claims.
