Continental premieres WinterContact TS 850 at Geneva Motor Show
ERJ staff report (TP)
Hanover, Germany / Geneva, Switzerland – Continental will debut its WinterContact TS 850 P tire at the 84th Geneva Motor Show this week.
The show runs from 6-14 March at the Palexpo and around 700,000 visitors are expected this year. Continental will be represented at the international trade fair in Hall 5 at stand 5043, where it will showcase its new winter tire, the Continental WinterContact TS 850 P, which will celebrate its debut in the tire trade this autumn, alongside its current range of tires for passenger cars.
Continental said its new tire “outperforms its predecessor both in its handling on snow and dry roads and in its braking performance. These capabilities are down to the new tread design of this asymmetrical winter tire for performance cars and SUVs.
“From the coming winter season, the Continental WinterContact TS 850 P and its ‘big brother’, the Continental WinterContact TS 850 P SUV, will gradually supersede the ContiWinterContact TS 830 P and the ContiCrossContact Winter, although both of these models will still be available in a wide range of different sizes.”
The firm also said the tire, compared to its predecessor, has a five percent improvement in handling on snow, two percent in handling on dry roads, and up to five percent in braking.
