Uzer Makina finds the cure in Turkey and beyond
ERJ Staff Report (TP)
Cologne, Germany – Turkish machinery and mould specialists, Uzer Makina, were at Tire Technology Expo 2014 to discuss their new hydraulic press and plans for expansion inside and outside of Turkey.
Yesterday, ERJ spoke with Seyfullah Bozkurt, Managing Director, at the show.
Bozkurt said: “In the second half of last year we delivered 50 curing presses in six months. Our capacity increased to 100 presses per year. We were small, but right now we are serious player.
“Globally, we concentrate on European markets for our curing presses. But for curing presses, containers and mechanisms – we supply to all the Americas.
“Bridgestone have several plants in north and south America – and they all use our containers and mechanisms.”
Uzer Makina has “recently developed a floating column-type hydraulic press, which has been internationally patented”.
For 2014 the company is looking at markets and projects in Russia and Belarus, and while no specific company names were available − Bozkurt describes the firm’s ambitions as “enlarging the circle”.
But Uzer Makina has not forgotten Turkey amidst the rush for world expansion.
Within the country, two companies are constructing new plants – Sumitomo Rubber will open its first plant in Cankiri, while Brisa will establish its second in the Aksaray Province Organised Industrial Zone, near Kirsehir.
“Each company will invest $500m (€365.3m) – just these two projects will keep us busy for five to six years,” said Bozkurt.
