    ERJ staff report (TP)

Seoul, South Korea − Nexen Tire announced on 19 December that it would supply OE tires for the Octavia and Rapid models of SKODA, Czech’s leading carmaker and part of the Volkswagen Group.

The OE tires are to be supplied and applied to the Octavias and Rapids manufactured at the plant in Mlada Boleslav in the Czech Republic and destined for the European market, with the models fitted with Nexen N’blue HD tires.

The Octavia is the bestselling model of SKODA Motors and represents some 30 percent of the carmaker’s total sales. It also ranked first in terms of sales among import cars in Germany. Rolled out in October last year, the Rapid is the first model to feature SKODA’s new brand design and is a major strategic model for the carmaker.

The N’blue HD is an eco-friendly UHP tire with excellent steering stability. It is currently gaining popularity in global markets including those of Europe thanks to its superior performance and enhanced fuel efficiency.

Nexen Tire expects to continue to see its brand awareness improve in the European market due to the new OE supply contract, which follows hot on the heels of the one for Volkswagen Polo announced earlier this month.
