Goodyear named a top innovator for third year running

Akron, Ohio – The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company has been named a Thomson Reuters 2013 Top 100 Global Innovator for the third year running.
Goodyear chairman and CEO Richard J Kramer said: “This recognition is further evidence of Goodyear’s ability to drive innovation. The market-back approach we take to delivering new products is a critical focus for us in the competitive global tire industry and helps us align our R&D efforts with Goodyear’s global strategy. This ultimately helps us deliver sustainable value to the marketplace.”
“The Thomson Reuters Top 100 Global Innovators once again prove that they are the companies driving growth, creating jobs and pioneering new products and services,” said David Brown, managing director, Thomson Reuters IP Solutions.
The programme honours the 100 corporations and institutions around the world deemed to be “at the heart of innovation” as measured by a series of proprietary patent-related metrics.
Goodyear employs about 69 000 people and manufactures its products in 52 facilities in 22 countries around the world. Its two Innovation Centers in Akron, Ohio and Colmar-Berg, Luxembourg aim to develop state-of-the-art products and services “that set the technology and performance standard for the [tire] industry”.
