Yokohama holds groundbreaking ceremony at Mississippi site

Tokyo – Yokohama Tire Manufacturing Mississippi has held groundbreaking ceremony for its truck and bus tire manufacturing point at West Point, Mississippi, US.
YTMM – established by Yokohama Tire Corp., a subsidiary of Yokohama Rubber – expects to start operations at the plant in October 2015. The company said it plans to make an initial $300m (€187m) investment in the facility and will employ some 500 people in the first phase, with the possibility of expanding both investment and employment by up to 4 times in the future.
The plant, which will have production, warehousing and operations facilities, will produce up to 1m tires annually.
