ERJ staff report (BC)
Da Nang, Vietnam – Da Nang Rubber Joint Stock Co. has opened a radial truck tire plant in Da Nang's Lien Chieu Industrial Zone, reported Rubber & Plastics News. The plant has a capacity of 600 000 units per year.
Da Nang Rubber, majority owned by Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem), invested $141m (€108m) over the past three years in the project, which includes equipment from suppliers in Italy, Netherlands and Germany, the company said. Employment will reach 1,000 at full capacity.
Company and local and national government officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, inaugurated the plant at a ceremony on 29 June.
Da Nang Rubber said the plant—the first radial truck tire factory in Vietnam—will contribute to growing the firm's sales to nearly $190m (€145m). The company sells under the DRC brand name.
The plant covers 1.15 million square feet (107 000 square metres).
Da Nang Rubber was founded 35 years ago, taking over a US military retreading plant in Da Nang. It produces bicycle, motorcycle, light, heavy and super-heavy truck and continues to retread tires as well, according to information posted on its website.
