ContiTech to plant trees for forest conservation
ERJ staff report (BC)
Northeim, Germany – The printing blanket segment of ContiTech’s elastomer coatings ContiTech is to plant trees in the Northeimer Mittelwald forest in supporting of an environmental project, using the proceeds from a Europe-wide recycling campaign.
After the municipal forestry department has prepared the ground for afforestation, ContiTech will plant native tree types that have become rare in the spring of 2014. Species will include the wild Elsbeere (beam tree) and Wildbirne (wild pear). The extensive planting initiative will involve local high school students.
Markus Gnass, head of metal printing Blankets at ContiTech Elastomer Coatings had the idea for the campaign.
He said: “We are working intensively on solutions in all production, material, and processing areas to make sure that manufacturing printed products has less impact on the climate and environment. … The decision to link the recycling of metal printing blankets with support for the Northeim Mittelwald forest fits in well with our environmental commitment.
