Bridgestone rules out re-entering F1
ERJ staff report (BC)
London – Bridgestone has confirmed it won’t make a comeback to Formula One tire supply when Pirelli's contract ends after the current season, report Dimitris Papadopoulos and Edd Straw of Autosport.
Bridgestone supplied F1 from 1997 to 2010.
South Korean manufacturer Hankook has already said it is not interested in entering the F1 market.
A Bridgestone spokesperson told Autosport: "Since our participation in F1, we have achieved a significant improvement in brand awareness in Europe and … all over the world.
“Under the current business environment which is continuously changing, Bridgestone has focused on the need to redirect its resources towards the further intensive development of ... innovative technologies and strategic products."
