Solvay completes second REACH registration phase
ERJ staff report (BC)
Brussels – Solvay has met the 1 June 2013 deadline for registering 161 chemical substances falling in the second tonnage band of the European Union’s compulsory REACH scheme (those produced at a rate of 100 tonnes per annum or more).
Gerard Collette, Industrial Director of Solvay, said: "With the completion of this second phase, we can now provide our customers with exhaustive data enabling them to use our products under the best possible conditions. REACH represents a fantastic opportunity to give new impetus to our innovation, to substitute some of our products and to orient our business activities towards a more sustainable type of chemistry."
Solvay staff have now moved on to the third REACH registration phase with a June 2018 deadline, concerning some 400 chemical substances manufactured or imported in quantities between 1 and 100 tonnes per annum.
