New silicone medical sealant from Master Bond

Hackensack, New Jersey – MasterSil 153Med from Master Bond is a two-component silicone compound with a paste consistency for bonding and sealing. Having USP Class VI and ISO 10993-5 cytotoxicity compliance, the company cites it as suitable for medical device applications.
According to Master Bond the mix ratio is one-to-one by weight, exposure to air and humidity are not required for cross-linking, working time is 5-7 hours and there is no outgassing while curing.
Temperature resistance up to 400°F is quoted, with flexibility sufficient to withstand thermal cycling, vibration and shock. The Shore A hardness rating is 20-35. Good bonding with a self-priming feature is claimed to metals, glass, ceramics, many plastics and cured silicone rubber.
