Apollo launches uniform bias commercial vehicle tire
ERJ staff report (BC)
Gurgaon, India – Apollo Tyres has introduced to the Indian market the XMR crossply steer axle tire, designed especially for structural durability and high mileage.
The company cites a new manufacturing approach – “uniform bias tire” (UBT) technology, with a production sequence ensuring a uniform cure index throughout the tire structure.
This process is also said to ensure minimum “splice overlap”, both through precise fabric ply preparation and minimising the number of splices per tire.
Satish Sharma, chief of Apollo’s Indian operations, said: “To continue our leadership and create a benchmark in the crossply tire category, especially when radialisation is happening in the heavy commercial vehicle segment, it is important for us to have such differentiating products for the steer axle as well.”
Apollo says over 65% revenues of the Indian tire industry comes from commercial vehicle tires, where it claims market leadership.
