Newcastle-upon-Tyne tire fire causes black smoke plume

Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK – Fire crews were called out to a small tire fire in Walker, a Newcastle suburb, on 3 March, reports Joe Daunt of Sky Tyne & Wear.
“Huge” plumes of black smoke were observed. Four firefighters used one pumping appliance to put out the blaze in an estimated one tonne of tires.
Police were in attendance and it is not thought anyone was injured. They are not treating the fire as suspicious.
