Thai government urges subsidised rubber farmers to help keep prices stable
ERJ staff report (BC)
Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand – The Thai agriculture ministry is urging rubber farmers who have participated in a state subsidy programme to help maintain the stability of prices during a probe into fraudulent producers, reports the Pattaya Mail.
Deputy agriculture minister Yuttapong Charasathien quoted as saying on 25 February that the government project to help stabilise rubber prices continues as an alternative source of funds for rubber farmers.
Alleged forgery of rubber farmers’ documents in southern Thai provinces is under investigation, and the government is looking into similar issues from the northeast.
