Cabot launches Transfinity grades for mining and NVH uses
ERJ staff report (BC)
Billerica, Massachusetts - Cabot Corporation. has released commercial grades of its Transfinity-brand elastomer composites formulated for mining uses and also for noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) applications in automotive and aerospace uses.
Transfinity products are composites of elastomer and carbon black, produced by a patented liquid phase mixing process. This is claimed to create virtually "defect free" composites that are stronger than those produced by conventional dry mixing.
Through the subsequent addition of curing agents, says Cabot, the composites can be moulded and vulcanised with conventional rubber processing equipment.
